Free ASVAB practice test: all 8 subtests, fresh questions every session
128 original questions with an explanation for every answer. Each session draws a new shuffled set: 40 questions across all subtests, or up to 12 for a single one. Pick a subtest below or start the full set. Raw count only, not a score estimate.

What this practice set is
The ASVAB has 8 subtests on the current form, and the bank here has 16 original questions for each of them. A session does not show the whole bank: it samples a few questions per subtest and shuffles the answer choices, so a second attempt is a different check rather than a memory test. Arithmetic Reasoning, Mathematics Knowledge and the verbal pair (which the Department of Defense scores together as VE) make up the AFQT and carry the largest weights in most Army line scores; General Science, Electronics Information, Auto and Shop Information and Mechanical Comprehension decide the technical composites such as EL, GM, MM and CO. If you only have an hour and no target job yet, start with the AFQT four.
Each question was written for this site and checked for one defensible answer, plausible distractors, and an explanation that shows the working rather than restating the answer. Wrong options are built from the mistakes people actually make: skipping a unit conversion, applying a discount to the wrong base, choosing a word that sounds related but is not a synonym, or multiplying by a gear ratio when you should divide. Reading the explanation for a question you got right is often as useful as for one you missed.
How practice connects to line scores
Every Army MOS is judged on one or more line scores such as GT, ST, CO or CL. Each of those is a weighted sum of subtest standard scores; the Army score guide explains each one and which jobs use it. That means practice is only useful when it is aimed: study the subtests that feed the line score you need, not the ones you already do well on. The cards above list the line scores each subtest nominally feeds. For the operational weights, and to see how a change in one subtest ripples through every line score, use the score calculator.
If you already know your target job, its MOS page has a practice link that pre-selects the right subtests and brings you back afterward. The score checker does the same for any job that shows as below threshold.
What a practice score can and cannot tell you
A raw count of correct answers tells you where you are losing points and what kind of mistake you are making. It does not tell you your AFQT percentile or any line score. The real ASVAB is computer-adaptive: the questions you see depend on how you answered the previous ones, and the result is placed on a norm-referenced scale using item response theory, then converted with published tables. None of that can be reproduced from a short sample of 128 written questions, so this site does not try. If you have taken the real test, the calculator works from the standard scores on your report, never from practice results.
For what each subtest covers, how to prepare for it and which line scores it feeds, see the study guide; every subtest section there links back to a practice session for that subtest alone.
Frequently asked questions
Is this an official ASVAB practice test?
No. The 128 questions in the bank are original items written in the style of the ASVAB and reviewed for a single correct answer and a consistent explanation. They are not drawn from any official test bank, and each session is short by design: 40 questions across all subtests, or up to 12 for one subtest. It is a study check, not a full-length simulation.
Will my practice score tell me my AFQT?
No. The result here is a raw count of correct answers. An official AFQT percentile comes from adaptive, norm-referenced scoring of the real test and is looked up from a conversion table published by the Department of Defense. No practice count converts into a percentile or a line score, and this site will never show one.
Which subtests are covered?
All 8 subtests on the current ASVAB: Arithmetic Reasoning (AR), Mathematics Knowledge (MK), Word Knowledge (WK), Paragraph Comprehension (PC), General Science (GS), Electronics Information (EI), Auto and Shop Information (AS), Mechanical Comprehension (MC). Numerical Operations and Coding Speed still appear in some Army composite definitions but are no longer administered, so there is nothing to practice for them.
How do I practice for a specific Army job?
Open the MOS page for your target job and use its practice link, or run the score checker and click a job that is below threshold. Both pre-select the subtests that feed the line score you are short on and bring you back to that job afterward.
Do I get the same questions if I practice again?
No. Every session draws a fresh sample from the bank and shuffles the answer choices, so "New set of questions" gives you different items and "Retry this set" lets you redo the ones you just saw. Answers stay in your browser during the session and are never uploaded. Submitting shows the explanation for every question, including the ones you skipped.
